New books releasing in April 2026

The highlights coming to bookshops in April 2026.

Book releases April 2026

How is it already April? Somehow, we’re a quarter of the way through 2026 already, and the book releases are coming thick and fast. While there’s perhaps not quite as many as March, April is a packed month for books, and there are so many to look forward to, regardless of your genre. It’s a great month for paperback releases too, with some of my favourite books of last year getting a new format.

Below, I’ve highlighted the best book releases in April. It’s a non-exhaustive list, focusing on books I’m personally interested, in the genres I cover. Sorry, fantasy fans!

April 2026 book releases: Highlights

Despite being mostly a thriller gal, I cannot wait for The Name Game by Beth O’Leary. She’s one of my favourite rom-com authors, and all of her books have been day-one reads for me so far. I absolutely adored last year’s Swept Away (rivalling The Flatshare for me), so I’m excited to see how this one compares.

In terms of thrillers, The Ending Writes Itself definitely deserves a mention. The secrecy around Evelyn Clarke (V. E. Schwab and Cat Clarke) was one of the biggest talking points on Bookstagram last year, so it’s going to be interesting to see if the viral marketing has paid off for HQ. I’m also excited for Caller Unknown, the latest from Gillian McAllister. I’m halfway through an eARC, and can highly recommend it so far. Finally, Susan Lewis’ Who Can You Trust is another must-read this month; it’s the fourth book in the Cristy Ward series, and while I didn’t love book three, I’m still very excited to see where the series goes next.

As for paperbacks? You need to pick up A Novel Murder and The Surf House, two of my favourite reads of last year, and both out in everyone’s favourite floppy format on 9th April.
